I have been working full time in
music for 20 years. I started in 'cover bands'. I
had a stint in an original band, called 'The working
hour', between 1989 and 1990. Things started to
happen for us, but for some reason, that I can't
recall, we disbanded. We had some great songs too. I
formed a Queen tribute band called 'The royal
family'. I needed to gig. I toured extensively and
internationally with them for 5 years. I had a great
time and saw some great places, but felt I needed a
change and left to do some solo work. I stuck with
the covers gigs for a while and only did my Freddie
Mercury impersonation on special occasions. The
thing is. My Queen gigs were so popular, that people
didn't pay too much attention through the 1st half
of my show. I was doing the songs that I liked, but
some would shout out, "Do some Queen"! It was very
frustrating and forced me to do 'only' Queen tribute
shows. I decided to up my game and become the best
at it. My natural ability to impersonate, led me to
do a George Michael tribute show. I have a
similar look to him and my voice lends itself to
his, very easily and once George 'came out' as gay,
in his very public way, my work load increased and
The Queen shows, lay on the back burner for a while.
I currently work within a large production called
'Legends', based in Blackpool, in the north of
England, although I live elsewhere. I enjoy
performing as both characters. Each has it's own set
of challenges. I love my work! |
